Where should the bus drop us off and pick us up? ^top
Buses may unload passengers on Ann Street, in front of the Children’s Museum entrance, or on the right-hand side of the Visitors Center Bus Shed via its John Street entrance.
Is there bus parking nearby? ^top
- # 1 Ann Street Parking Garage (directly across from the Children’s Museum) - $10 fee
From Ann Street, enter the Transit Mall street; immediately on the right-hand side is the bus entrance to the garage.
- # 2 Wragg Square
Continue on Ann Street east, across Meeting Street. Immediately on the right-hand side there are spaces reserved for bus parking. Parking is free; however there are only 4 -5 slots allocated to buses.
- # 3 Concorde Street – Near the Cruise Ship Terminals
Head south on Meeting Street, take a left on Calhoun, a right onto Washington Street (one past East Bay), continue down Washington, past Hasell Street (Washington turns into Pritchard and then Concorde), you will see large industrial buildings with signs for bus tour stops.
- If your driver would like a scenic view, we recommend that he head down to the southern tip of the island and he can enjoy a view of the water and White Point Gardens.
Where can my students eat? ^top
Due to space limitations, only field trip groups during the school year who have purchased Package C may eat lunch in the Museum. There are several areas close by (Marion Square Park and Wragg Square Park) that provide a large space for school groups to eat lunch.
CML does not provide lunches for children to eat. We do have a small snack area in the Lobby of the Museum. Snacks are $.80 +tax each and drinks are $1.00 +tax each. If you are going to allow your group to purchase snacks, we suggest an all or none policy; meaning that either every child has money to purchase snacks, or none will be able to purchase snacks.
What should we know for the day of the trip?^top
We ask the chaperones to help the children remember the following Museum rules:
- Use inside voices
- Use your walking feet at all times
- Do not climb on the exhibits
- Hang up your costumes, shrimper’s gear, smocks and aprons after using them
- In the Charleston Market only choose 6 items for your cart and return those items to shelves
- In the Art Room, please use our materials with respect
- Stay out of the Toddler Room

- Making a marble float and a paper fish swim.
- Creating a botany book with indigenous leaves.
