How do I book the party and what are my responsibilities in order to reserve my date? ^top
When you have decided which type of party you would like to have and the date you would like to have it, contact our reservationist to see if your date is available. You may contact her by email, birthdayparties@explorecml.org or by phone, (843) 853-8962 ext. 224.
Once you speak to the reservationist and determine if the date you would like is available, you are responsible for paying your party deposit ($75/nonrefundable) within 72 hours. If your deposit is not paid within this time period, you forfeit the date you reserved for your party.
You will need to return all the birthday party forms you will receive from our reservationist as soon as possible. The guest list and information sheet are due NO LATER than 3 p.m. on the Tuesday before your party.
What does CML provide for my party? ^top
What the museum provides depends on the type of party you are having. Please see the page for the party type you are interested in.
What do I need to bring to the party? ^top
You are responsible for bringing your own cake (if not purchased as an add-on) and refreshments, party favors (if not purchased as an add-on), the birthday guest roster and information sheet (this is due by 3 p.m. on the Tuesday prior to your party) and additional decorations (if you would like them) such as balloons and party hats. We do not allow piñatas for CML parties, and all balloons must stay in the party room.
How many children can attend my party? Can their parents come as well? ^top
To ensure that everyone has the best possible experience, we limit the number of children at the party to 20. You may have 20 adult guests, for a total of 40 people. If your party has more than 40 people, a fee of $10 per person will apply.
Can I have pizza or other food delivered to my party? ^top
We do not allow party hosts to have any sort of food or refreshment delivered to the museum. Any food or refreshment must be brought with you.
Where do I park on the day of my party? ^top
We reserve one spot directly on the side of the museum (enter our lot from John Street). Do not park in the parking lot across from the museum—those are not our spots, and your car will be towed.
We can only accommodate ONE car per party, and only for the length of your party. If you wish to stay and play after your party, you must move your car to one of the nearby garages or find a metered spot on the street.
How is my party organized? ^top
Your birthday party will include four main parts: Welcome, Museum Play Time, Party Time and Farewell.
Welcome:
We have a special outside door reserved just for birthday party guests. Please enter and exit through this door on the backside of the Museum, closest to John Street.
Parents/Guardians of the birthday child are welcome to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the party to check-in with the party hostess and drop-off refreshments and cake. To entertain the children while the guests arrive, they will be able to participate in a coloring activity.
Museum Play!:
After a brief orientation to CML, the children will be free to play in the Museum's exhibits. The Museum exhibits are hands-on and we encourage parents to interact and play with their children. While children are playing in the Museum, your party hostess will be setting up the tables with the children's refreshments.
Party Time!:
After Museum play time, the birthday parents, your CML party hostess and CML's staff will help escort all guests back into the Party Room to sing Happy Birthday, enjoy the refreshments as well as the presentation of the birthday child's CML surprise!
Farewell:
At the end of your party, children may leave with their parent of guardian from the Birthday Party door. Children may re-enter the Museum following the party only if with an adult 18 years of age or older. |
